Our Story

My name is Darcy Harrington. I'm a professional dancer who is passionate about creating more opportunities for dancers to perform. I was inspired by the idea that while these opportunities are scarce, dancers are abundant. As a result, my husband and I decided to create Georgetown Ballet. With Georgetown Ballet, we seek simply to create a platform for performing. Our mission is to train local dancers and offer two performances a year in the Georgetown area.
We are in our fourth season, but our goal is to make this a self-sustaining project, which we hope to achieve with community support and donations.
In December 2014 Georgetown Ballet performed Act II of The Nutcracker, its first-ever performance, at The Palace Theater to an enthusiastic audience and was featured on the front page of the Williamson County Sun newspaper. Since then, the company has staged two more shows, with increasingly larger audiences attending. Our December 2016 performance of Act II of The Nutcracker was attended by more than 500 people!
In April 2017 we also finally received notice from the IRS of our non-profit status! You can find out about the various ways to support Georgetown Ballet by clicking on the "Support Us" page. Every little bit helps us to grow and give Georgetown the best show possible! Thank you, and we hope to see you at a show soon!
